Im thinking of doing this to my winter wheels because they are a plain silver 5 spoke and dont look very good. But, my car is black so I dont think the matte color of this would look very good.
Paint over the plastidip with gloss black spray paint.

Or use a glossy tire dressing on the plastidipped areas. It shouldn't matter seeing as how most are good for plastics anyways.

it seems like plasti dip is extremely easy to put on, but it also seems like it can just as easily come off.... wouldnt adding more than two coats make it come off easier because it is thicker?? I want to try this stuff out on my rims, but just the chrome lip:

This plasti dip stuff is like a disease with no cdc to stop it. Once a person is infected the side effects seem to be the spread of plasti dip all over the car like a bacteria on the petri dish. I must admit it looks good though! And OP nice write up and definitely a +1 for the red accent on the rims.

I guess I'd have to see it in person...little too old school and I just use it to replace old plier handle grips

There is a glossy clear from Plastidip now that will transform the matte into a gloss finish.

Check out: http://www.dipyourcar.com/ for ideas.

Did you plastidip your calipers? Wouldn't the heat make it flake off?
