Default Door Subs...

I recently installed a new head unit for my Shaker 1000 system (a Sony DSX-S100). Since I installed it, I've been getting a horrendous buzzing out of my front speakers when the bass kicks in. When I shift the speaker output to the rear, the buzzing seems to get worse when the bass hits. When I've got the sub output set to 0, there's no buzz, but it obviously sucks to listen to music like that (I listen to dubstep, rap, and rock mostly).

I can't diagnose whether it's the speaker itself or something inside the doors that's vibrating against the metal itself (like the wiring for the windows, for example). Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've heard that changing the HU really opens up the Shaker system, and I feel like that's what it's done. Do you think it requires a speaker replacement or something like a Dynamat install for the doors?

Is 6x8 the correct size for the door speakers? What would you guys recommend? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money because I'm not a huge audio guy, but I just want some clarity because I spend a ton of time in my car.

I believe they are 51/4 in the lower door, and 5x7 for the upper door speaker. You may want to check your connections to the back of the radio. wire harness and what not. If all you replaced was your head-unit and nothing else, and you didn't have problems with the speakers before then that's where i would start.

Have you tried putting pressure on the door panel to see if that stops or dampens the noise any? I would def. try to diagnose if it's the speaker or a rattle. I have the 1000 as well and used to get all kinds of rattles from the door panel. I just finished putting Second Skin dampening stuff in today and all the rattles are gone and the system sounds incredible. This obviously wouldn't solve your problem if it was something to do with the HU though, lol.

I did put pressure on the door and it did help a tiny bit, but I feel like it's further inside the door itself. Like I said earlier, I'm thinking it's the wires deep inside the door.

Check the small panel behind the door opener, essentially the back of where the opener is, very big source of noise. The window switches are also very noisy.

The 4 sided trim piece behind the door handle (not the release latch but the part to pull the door shut) likes to rattle as well. I wedged a coin in mine and it solved it. I have some mild rattles of the bass that seems to be coming from inside the door, but Mustangs have always had rattly pieces :/

I have the 1000 system with the Pioneer 4200DVD. Really deepened the bass. Subs hit harder, especially the door subs. I used to wonder if the door subs were even on, but after the HU install they pump so hard it feels like a fan on my leg. Bass is usually on -4

Did you install a voltage regulators? You may be getting this buzzing sound due to the fact that the stock stereo runs on 5v and now your running 12v from the remote wire to the amps.

That's exactly what happened with me.

The thing is, I don't think it's the door subs now. I feel like it's the speakers that are in the upper door.

And it's not so much a popping noise as it is a crackling. The best analogy I can come up with is when I have my computer (Alienware M17xR3 )turned up full blast, the speakers start to sound really crackly/fuzzy... It's basically the same sound I'm getting in my car.
