Default Dash cluster removal?

I'm going to remove the TPMS light in the dash. Anyone have the steps on the cluster removal?

You mean the light in the gauges right? AM has a really nice writeup for removal, basically removing 4 screws on the corners (once the face plate is snapped off) then disconnecting a harness in the back.

Now, I'm guessing the little lights are contained inside the gauges housing itself so you would have to open it up. I am almost positive someone did a write-up here for that (replacing their stepper motors or something) but can't find it =( I'll keep looking.

Very easy to get out, but I think it will be a PITA to remove the light(s) unless you are handy with a solder iron. They are very small and aren't small bulbs or anything like that, small LEDs. I don't have an airbag on the drivers side so I just put a small piece of black electrical tape over the airbag light.

Not going to remove it, my bad. I'm just going to put a piece of black tape over it. This is the Tire pressure sensor light, not the air bag.

Yeah, that would be how I would deal with it (besides just poying up the dollars for tpms sensors).

Adjust your steering wheel column to the lowest setting, give a tug on the trim piece, it's just snapped in, remove, there are 4 hex screws holding the cluster in, the lower ones are a bit of a pain and having a flex shaft or wobble extension would help, otherwise use a short nutdriver. The cable harness has a lever to release, then unplug the cable. Pull out.

Thanks much. Yeah I went down that road with new sensors on my last wheels (which I thought I was going keep, right). So, I'm done with this sensor crap. Also, there is no way I'm going to spend $150 for sensors to put in a tube filled with air.

Has anyone tried to paint plastidip over the sensor picture rather than pasting electrical tape over it?

After I posted the above, I thought about it and I'm going to use black enamel paint.

not over, under, as in, on the backside. If you did it on the topside it would look like crap regardless if it was electrical tape or plastidip.
