Exclamation HID after install problems..Help

Happy New Year! I just recently instilled HID's for all four of my fog lights (I know, over kill), it looks great and will post pictures a little later. The stock fogs lights were installed using the stock fog light harness , for the GT/CS fog lights, I had to tap into the side markers. Everything was working fine when I first installed it but last night, my car gave me a "Service AdvanceTraction" message and both my ABS and Brake lights stay on. Could this be caused by my newly installed fog HID's? Could it be I just need to go to the dealership to have them cleared?

I love how the car looks with the lights but it's not worth having all those lights on in the dash 24/7.

I hope you're running a relay. Might help if you don't have one.

Maybe disconnect your battery and see if the warning lights come back on? You could fire up your different sets of HIDs independently to see which one is triggering the light.

I did not use a relay, I just tapped into the power and ground source, was this not a smart move?. I'll try to disconnect the battery for a few hours and see if it clears it. I have an appointment with the dealership but they said if the error/problem is not covered under warranty, it would cost me $135 for the diagnostic.

It's generally ok to not run a relay with a single set of HIDs (somewhat risky though), but when you add multiple sets (4 ballasts) and fire them all up, it's a pretty big amount of power drawn from the elec. system.

Running a relay and powering (at least) one set off the battery might fix your issue. HIDs draw less power than stock after they've warmed up, but the initial start up is enough to possibly make your system (gauges, warning lights, etc...) jump or go off.

Personally, I'd start with a $15 relay to see if that did the trick.

you should only be tapping the sidemarker lights for the signal. you need a relay and direct fused power from the battery.

I have never heard of running a relay for using fogs hooked up to the sidemarkers, but I can be wrong. I had an advance trac service light on my 2010 that was from JDM's tune (got it sorted out). Your not running a tune are you?

Also when I ran into the issue I searched it and a few others with 2010's had a problem where a wire of some sort was to close to the exhaust and it would trigger the advance trac/abs light to go off. Try using the google search bar and type in "2010 mustang advance trac service light". It was on another forum, I just forget which one it was.

Before you try anything with the wiring I just mentioned, reset the batter and disconnect those fogs you wired to the side markers. Drive around for a day or 2 and see if the light comes on. If it doesnt come on than reconnect those fogs to the sidemarkers (if the light comes on, duhh thats your problem lol).

Thanks for the advice, I will try disconnecting the fog lights and see if it helps. Should I take off all the HID kits before taking it in? I would hate if the dealership tries to blame the HID kits for the problem then say I'm SOL.

If your dealer is full of a bunch of d1cks, than yeah take it off. If they arent then dont worry about it. When my dealer was fixing my rear the mechanic offered to adjust my exhaust while it was up on the lift since he was it was a little off so it all depends.
