as far as looks they are quite different, besides:

easy to clean, its a final surface finish.
(i wouldnt recommend to use the stripper on chrome but i also think it wouldn't do too much to it)

the stock ford "polished" wheels are rather semi gloss polished, have a clearcoat that is like any other paint (few exceptions) high gloss by itself and also represents a final surface finish.
(all that is why i like and got them)

"only" polished aluminum does not represent a sustainable proper surface finish (imo and in all current car manufacturers opinoins), however, it can be polished quite close to chrome but you need to keep it up constantly.

stripping them? polishing? maybe repainting? sooo much effort, time money (if professionally done) and very questionable results, get a better set if you like the polished or get chrome ones if you like these.
I know that they are the stock ford factory polished wheels the term polished is confusing because they are actually clearcoated what most people don't know is that that ford offered both polished aluminum and polished chrome wheels as options they look identical in pics and I just wondered if anyone knew how to tell the difference part numbers or what not.

Mine aren't chrome and they look just like that. Pretty sure they are forged ALU.

Another vote for polished AL.

That's a great idea down there with the magnet!

Bring a magnet...Aluminum isn't magnetic, while chrome (over steel) is...

They are polished aluminum. Even in the pics posted by edcologne you can clearly see the difference between aluminum, and chrome.

Im going to do it myself to save some money watched some youtube videos on how to do it aircraft remover works well to remove clearcoat off of aluminum doesnt look to difficult to do just time consuming.
