PlastiDip question

PlastiDip question
So, i think i'm going to try my hand at plastidipping my fake fuel cap on the back of trunk, i plasti dipped my mustang on my grille yesterday and it looked good, but it was easy to tape up. On the cap. im not sure if i should try and tape a circle around it or should i put a square on it and try to peel the plasti dip off the paint and hope it doesn't stay. I don't want to paint the entire thing just the chrome outter part and leave the black inner part normal with the mustang emblem, well this probably didn't make a lot of sense, but yeah. If you need me to clear things up just ask lol..

I did mine a while back.
I put note cards on the outside circle. And for the inner circle to cover the "GT" I taped it off. Just take your time and tape it off right And you'll be fine. Took me 15 min to tape and paint everything

I did the opposite and plasti-ed the emblem. The gas cap one isn't as thick as the fender ponies.
Point is, there's a lot of grooves/curves/details that you'd have to peel around to get what you want. Considering there isn't a lot of depth to the cap, I'd think it'd be harder to peel the plasti-dip off in only certain spots. Just my .02.
