Painting question

I'd just spray it then with Krylon or something like it. Take your time and put several light coats on it. You can then decide if you want to add a clear matte if they make that. Most people make the mistake of spraying too much because they get impatient. Patience is your second best friend in painting (besides prep!). For what you're talking about, I wouldnt bother paying a pro for just a matte black.

I've used this with good results, much better than a can of Krylon for what you're trying to do.

What kind of prep should I do?
Awesome thanks Flat out that is exactly what I'm looking for, so approximately how much would a can of that be? And do you think it would work on Fiberglass?

Here's a write up I came across and was planning on using some of the tips when it came to painting a chin spoiler I was eventually planning on getting.
For your purposes, I'd do it yourself. With flat black, you can easily get a good result without much work. Even with regular paint, if I paid to have it painted, I'd be kicking myself even more if I ever curbed it on accident.

I bought black (Gloss) automotive spray paint from Advanced Autos and sprayed on several coats. It comes very close to matching the side rockers. I tried (semi-gloss) and it was too dull looking. I used sand paper and smoothed out the chin spoiler before painting. I use the spray paint and touch up every so often due to rock chips and etc.
