Question Clutch and shift issues!!! Help!!!

I left work today and noticed that my clutch pedal has a dead spot at the top and does not have any pressure until about 1/4 way down.
Also, I am having difficulties trying to put my shifter into any gear. It takes some jamming to get it in gear. Once I have the shifter in gear the car drives perfectly fine, but getting the shifter into each gear is a huge pain!

Is this a sign of the clutch going???

If anyone is wondering, I have 65,000+ miles on my car.

Suggestions and ideas welcomed!

I've had a very similar issue on a different car and the problem was with the clutch slave cylinder. Yours may need to be replaced, or possibly has air in the lines and needs to be bleed.
I'd start with that!

I'd check like mentioned above Kevin... Or it just could be your T5 finally starting to conch out like most people's. If that turns out to be the case I have one that never had that issue.

Thanks guys! I will be taking it to the shop tomorrow. I can barely drive it. I've done some reading and it seems as though the issue is pointing to the slave cylinder.

Well, it turns out, both the slave and master cylinder were shot and a whole clutch assembly is needed. Ford OEM clutch, throw out bearing, master/slave cylinder with aluminum flywheel is setting me back a little over $1,300.
Is this normal at only 65,000 miles? I've read that Ford clutches typically last up to 75,000 miles or so.
Well, at least I just paid off the car.......

Clutch wear is entirely subjective and based on driving style. If you're going to replace the clutch, you might as well upgrade from stock while you have the transmission down, there are plenty of affordable clutch options that are made of superior material and comparably priced when compared to the ford OEM. Good luck man.

Will do! Thanks!
I received a quote on a high performance clutch and they me quoted $1,700+.

That price might be a bit high. I have replaced a few clutches over the years and I can tell you that prices vary a LOT and the quality level of the parts offered vary a lot too.
I would make a lot of calls, ask for advise and prices. See who is leading you in the right direction and who wants the work. It is usually worth the effort.

Good luck.

I picked up the Stang today and the clutch grabs really low and will take some getting used to! Ford revised the pressure plate and the clutch is real easy to push down now. During the test ride, I only stalled out once, but while I was driving, it started over heating due to the fan not kicking on, so it's back at the shop. While it's back at the shop, I asked them to adjust the clutch to grab a little higher. Hoping all works out tomorrow!

Once it's bled properly, it will grab higher. There is no bleeder valve on the S197s, so unless it is bled very well after installation, it will take a couple hundred miles for all of the air to bleed out.
