look into falken fk452's or hankook ventus v12's imo - for budget friendly performance tires that do exceptionally well in wet and dry, they are good picks. they should be priced similarly.

I will probably swap my 555's out before they are worn down - that's how much I dislike them.

A 285 on a 9 inch rim is probably not a good idea bro!
Another size worth taking a look at is 275/45/18. It will fit fine on a 9 inch rim and the extra sidewall will help with grip more than going up a couple of mm's in width.
Check tire rack…they had some continentals on sale for 100 bucks each that you could pair with 255's up front.

I get great traction is summer with my 555's, even when I was at 505rwhp, and driving hard, they still lasted 30K miles, so I bought some more after hearing how many stickier tires ride quality diminishes severely after a few thousand miles, and they are buying more expensive tires every 15K miles, no thanks, Erik

nt05's would be a better option too and they are pretty cheap

The only issue with nt05's is treadwear. I am a college kid operating on a budget, so I need something that will last as long as possible while still giving the best traction possible.

I went to my tire shop buddy and I am not sure if I misunderstood him or what, but he quoted me $200 installed and balanced. I thought that this was per tire, which was a good price, but then he said, "The only thing you have on top of that is sales tax. It will be about $14 per hundred bucks, so you'll have about $28 in sales tax." If he just hooked me up with these for $100 apiece, I'm going to be ecstatic. Heck, $400 mounted and balanced is a good deal too.

They'll be mounted tomorrow, so I'll try to throw up a few pics then.

you are not going to find a tire that gives you great traction and long treadlife... If you are looking for best traction and don't see alot of rain look at some drag radials. If you are looking for budget look at something like the v12's. I had the v12's with my gt with 4.10's and they helped, but you're still not going to get the traction I think you're looking for unless you go with some drag radials. NT05's and 555R's are decently priced, but treadlife will not be your friend.... "Gotta pay to play!"

I know I won't get top performance, but I have to operate as best I can under my budget.

I just got Nitto NT555 275/40/17 on my mustang and I have been very impressed with them EXCEPT in the rain..My back end has slipped out a bit while i have been driving in the rain..I would check into finding those tires at the lowest price because I had discounttire price match mine at 142/tire, but im not sure how different the 18's are to from the 17's..Overall im happy with them
