Default Roush CAI for 5.0

My wife and I were going somewhere today and I was able to talk her into stopping by summit.

I picked up http://www.americanmuscle.com/roush-cai-2010gt.html

90 degrees here in GA... No real gain that I can feel, but throttle response is better... Nothing like the bama tune on my 07; expected. Assuming all CAI's really are, is a bigger filter. I see no reason to spend the addition $125-$175, do you?

Install <5 minutes.

My next Q

Have any of you installed the after Cat X pipe on your ride? If so, how do you like it? I have mac comp. catback... Will it gain anything and how much will the tone change compared to stock H pipe design?

Claimed 8 horse power.
Do you really think you would notice less than a TWO PERCENT increase?

99gtstang,

Did you get your 'stang all fixed up? Is she running right now? I haven't come across an update.

Not yet, it's done it twice since last shop visit. But... it cuts off about 30 seconds later. When it's doing it a lot I plan to drive back to them. They said they have a PID machine on order they're going to leave with me. Not sure if I spelled that right... they kept saying PID or something that monitors electrical/car while driving.

Thanks for asking, Don!

I feel front control arm coming next. Waiting on some more complaints about clutch pedal before I take it in. Sticking to the floor after hard acceleration. I read somewhere that it seems to be the spring mechanism.

Overall it's running pretty good. I still love driving it.

Sorry to hear that bro... Is this PID like a datalogger? Hopefully they'll figure this out for you soon.

As far as the clutch pedal, isn't there a TSB already for that? I know they had it for the 2011's... Here are the details...
Make : FORD; Model : MUSTANG;
Service Bulletin Num : TSB-10-19-4
NHTSA Item Number : 10037084
Date of Bulletin : SEP 20, 2010

Yes, datalogger of some sort. That TSB is for 11's built sometime in 2010. I have checked TSB's for 12 models - NADA related to clutch.

Front lower control arm - Of course they could not replicate the noise I heard due to roads being wet...As soon as it got hot and dry it started back, lol. They want to fix it, but have no grounds to go on as far as Ford's tech line. I understand that, some don't.... It's protocol. They had it on the lift and didn't see anything out of the norm. 12 models don't seem to really have that issue yet.

My Roush CAI had a removable insert that then required a tune. Not sure if that one does or not.

This is a basenasty CAI. Basically a filter and open box. No tuning for me for a few years.

Ah, I forget that the new cars have warranties :P You probably won't tell a big difference then, but you knew that. If your question is asking if I would buy a CAI that didn't require a tune, my answer would be no.

edit: But then again, I don't have a warranty to worry about.
