Advance trac sport mode?
was wondering if someone can explain to me the differences between:
1) advance trac off
2) advance trac sport mode (tap button twice)
3) when you hold the button for 5 seconds you disable everything.
im not really clear on what is being turned on and off and the practical effect it will have on performance.
thank you!
edit: my car is a 2012 GT

AdvanceTrac is a combination of Traction Control System (TCS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). TCS controls wheel spin, ESC controls side to side skidding.
1) Default - TCS and ESC Enabled.
2) Push AdvanceTrac Button once - ESC Enabled, TCS Disabled.
3) Apply Brake and push AdvanceTrac Button twice - Sport Mode: TCS and ESC Enabled, but sensitivity reduced.
4) Apply Brake and hold down AdvanceTrac Button for 5 seconds - TCS and ESC Disabled.
When fully engaged, AdvanceTrac will cut engine power and apply brakes individually to keep the car from getting out of control. In Sport mode, more slip angle and wheel spin are tolerated before AdvanceTrac kicks in. When fully Disable, you are on your own.
Sport mode is a good idea if you are a novice driver on a road course as it will try to save the car from getting out of control. Note that it is not uncommon for Sport mode to put additional wear on the rear brake on a road course. Also, keep in mind that AdvanceTrac cannot defy physic and it IS possible to lose control of the car if it get out of control enough.
Unlike other cars that I've taken to the track, AdvanceTrac is one of those system that can be 100% disabled. I can confirm that with a full 360 degree spin out at Hallett last year.

Only one way to really understand and become one with these three magic modes.
Find a parking lot with no cars and no light poles.
Select the first of the three modes.
Try to do a couple donuts.
Select the second....
The lightbulb will go on over your head a little bit after the third test.

One other thing Sport Mode does is reduce the amount of power steering assist. The steering will feel a little heavier but it's more communicative than in Normal mode. Oddly, the normal amount of assist is there when you turn the nannies all the way off (or at least it feels that way to me).

I have a 2012 V6 Premium. I only seem to be able to take the traction control off. If i hit the button once "traction control off" appears. If i hold the brake down for 5 seconds and push twice, i still only see "traction control off". Is it bad for day to day driving to have the traction control off?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
