well its about $3,000 to fix and the insurance company doesn't want to replace the quarter panel just pull and bondo which I am highly against, but they did throw in a gt/cs bumper included the estimate for me. I will be getting another estimate tomorrow and will insist they cut and replace.

Im not sure what insurance company you have but when I got into my accident my insurance company told me that they will cut the check to a repair shop and they will replace it how I saw fit. Its basically "your money. If you go over the check amount, you'll have to pay out of pocket.

The other driver's insurance company or your insurance company?

also, wild idea but what do you guys think the car is worth right now before being fixed.. its got 35,000 miles pony package leather, shaker 500, interior upgrade.. wondering if it makes any sense at all to sell it as is and take the insurance money and upgrade to a V8?? Thoughts?

Man, it sounds as though you have a bad insurance company. They are supposed to have the car repaired so it is in the same condition it was in before the damage occurred. Bondo ain't it! On top of that, apparently they are expecting to collect from the other insurance company. Why they won't authorize a quality repair is beyond me, other than they are a bad company.

Yes, you are exactly right filler/bondo is not a quality repair and I won't settle for it, they must replace the quarter, if not it will be taken to higher authorities. Also, if anyone has a copy of the shop manual or page where it says what the proper way to replace a quarter panel is please let me know. Thanks.

I have it but it's at my parent's house and I'm not sure when I can get over there this week. I'll poke around online and see if I can find it for you. I was quite relieved when I had my shop tell me how they planned to do the repair then checked and saw that they wanted to do exactly what Ford specified.

Okay, man this is what you want:

http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=492&viewfil...Guidelines.pdf

Also, you can of course browse through other portions of the manual. The basic thing here is that they should section the quarter panel as per Ford's recommendations, which you can see on 501-35-2.

All the best!!

Yeah I would not try to sell it with the damage. You will take a hard loss on it.
People just don't want to buy cars with damage, especially that significant.
