Default Sidewall Damage

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong place but I'm not sure where else to post this. I managed to brush up on a curb yesterday causing some damage to the sidewall of my tire. I took it to a pretty reputable tire shop in the area and they told me that since the cords aren't showing, it's cosmetic only. I feel like what they say should be pretty trustworthy because with it being a shop and all, they should have tried to sell me another tire. Anyway, I just wanted to get a few opinions here. I'll post a picture below. The only problem is this particular picture makes the damage look much worse than it really is. I'd go out and take some more but I'd rather not in the current thunderstorm we're having. Thanks!

Doesn't look all that bad to me and if the picture makes it look WORSE like you said - you shouldn't have any problems. Just keep an eye on it for a few, but I'd say you're fine.

I am not a professional, but the damage does not look that bad. If you are still feeling uneasy, take to another tire shop and get another professional opinion. It's always good to have a clear state of mind, especially if you are worried about your safety.

My wife has curbed two of her tires much worse than that and they went 60k miles. One of the rim's lip looks like it went through a cheese grater!

Yeah it looks like minor surface damage. Also I am jealous of the thunderstorm you are currently having.

Thanks for the replies. I'll just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get any worse. The car rides fine and the tire pressure is stable so I think it will be okay.
