I am 53 and I run a Bassani mid pipe and flowmaster exhaust. It sounds good most of the time but the drone at certain speeds is pretty bad. Even a cranked up stereo can't drown it out. I am looking at quieter exhausts because I like my stereo.

Then look at the FRPP SVT GT500 mufflers for the GT... I love mine, no drone. Only wish they were a little louder than they are, but they are a HUGE improvement over the stockers. And under $300.

My 60 year old dad has full length headers, off-road h, and Flowmasters on his '93 GT and full length headers, off-road x, and Bassani Race mufflers on his '09 GT500. Rock on dude!

(did you get the mufflers on yet?)

Just something fun to try... Have you tried starting the car and rev'ing her with no mufflers? If so, how'd it sound? Since you're waiting, might be nice to know.

Which ones did you go with, the hushpowers or classics, etc? 6th gear at about 1800-2000 rpm will tell the tale on the drone level. If its bad, you can try shoving a mover's blanket under the spare tire, I've heard that can help a little. Let us know how it turns out!

If anyone says anything about how loud they are, I would say "WHAT?"! And when they repeat it I would say "THEY DON'T SOUND LOUD TO ME!"

Seriously, Go For It!

It sounds like a freaking dragster with no mufflers on it .. I couldn't resist when i was putting my Roush kit on. I honestly thought about running it like that for a couple of days before i put my new mufflers on.
Oh and a pro tip for the op... Try using dish soap to lube up the rubber hangers when taking the old mufflers off or putting new ones on.
