Default Help me change my fuel filter?

For the life of me I can not disconnect the fuel lines from my filter. There is talk of mystical green tabs that need to be pushed in to disconnect, but I can't seem to locate... Help would be appreciated...

Here's what I'm looking at...

It looks like a tab but I can not push it in or anything like that...

That strip in the first picture that is green, that's the tab. Take a flathead screwdriver and press it in (as in, towards the fuel line itself), it doesn't take much before it'll release your filter

^^^ +1 that's it right there... Have a rag or catch tray below it because there will be some fuel in the line. Did you pull the fuel pump relay to relieve pressure off the line, btw?

What pdonket said...

And pulling the fuse isn't necessary but DO have a can or rag to catch what will be maybe 1/4 cup of fuel, if that.

press the tab like said above, it may take a little wiggle on the filter to get it loose, but not too bad.
and like Nuke said, i didn't pull the fuse, just used a rag to catch a little bit of fuel that came out.

Done thanks for the help. I guess I was looking for something more like the tabs that were on the quick connects on the airbox that I recently swapped out...

I didn't pull any fuses and the fuel spillage was minimal...

Regards!

Next time get a fuel line disconnect tool. Like 4 bucks at pepboys and easier than using a screwdriver.

+1

They are cheap tools and make disconnecting the lines take about 2 seconds.
