The CAI popping loose would certainly cause problems. How did it run when put back together?

+1 where did it pop loose? If air was bypassing the MAF it won't run right.

Yeah, I'm also wondering what is up with the CAI. How is it popping loose?

You know, I have no idea. CAR-15, I should be at The Suds on Saturday. I'll show you if you're there.

Its the JTL Series 3 CAI. It never seemed to really fit right in the first place, but I got it on. It feels like the fitting is too tight to get on, and is almost squeezing it out. Then again, when I tighten the fitting, it seems to hold better. I know I have it in as far as it should go. This isn't the first time its come out - it came out when I was having the overheating issue (or before that and I just noticed it then).

You'll have to check it out this weekend. The thing was a real b**** to install. I had to use pry bars to get the filter attached to the tube. We had to use pry bars to get the fitting at the TB onto the tube when it came off last time. Didn't have to this time.

It may be coming off when I hit a few bumps on the way to work/the airport.

That doesn't sound right at all. It shouldn't take all of that to get everything together. If it doesn't fit right I'd send it back and get a different one. Are you home in the evening? I have a football meeting at 6:30 at CPI school. Should take about a half hour. I could stop by your house afterward and look it over if you want.

Yea...that isnt how that install should go. My JLT fits snug but its only difficult to fit it onto the 62mm Ford Racing TB. Shouldnt require a pry bar to install at all!

Maybe go back to stock and see if the issue persists?
