Default Cam's on DD?

Whats up guys, wanted to know if a cam upgrade is safe for a DD. I love the way the hot rod cams sound but don't want to mess up my only car. I don't have long tubes but do have a catted X pipe with magnapacks. Will I get the cam sound even without long tubes?

If you want daily driver friendly cams, then I would suggest Brenspeed Detroit Rockers... mine drive just like stock (no bucking) and sound and perform great!

I really want a set of cams for the cool lope. However I've seen a few Stang that have to keep reving at stop lights just to keep the idle up. This the only reason why I hesisatate. I read that changing the stock gears is suggested with the Detroit Rocker to avoid possible idle issues. I want drive ability even in stop and go traffic.

Not sure how rear gears would impact idle behavior . . .

Since I commute to DC and deal with horrible traffic all the time, I must be able to drive in traffic with no problem.

@ Lawrence- Going to stop by today, give you a call when I'm 10 minutes away.

I have the hot rod cams on my daily driver. Only car i own and i was a little scared at first but after being convinced, it was totallllly worth it. I have no idle issues, the car runs great. You will still have a good sound from the cams even without the headers, but i would suggest LT headers as the next mod after cams, i hear the power increase is pretty small from adding cams without headers.

I gained 30 at the wheels after Comp stage 2 NSR cams and CMDP's, and I have equal length shorties not long tubes. My idle isn't mean but it is definitely louder and is very streetable in traffic, but I also have 4.10s which help a ton.

Edit:05slp, I just saw your numbers, did you have a baseline before cams and with the longtubes? A few people have told me I'd gain 10+ from longtubes, but my tuner said 5-8, if I could get 15 more I might do it so what did you gain from cams and the CMDPs?

Any nsr cam will work as a daily driver. Adding 4.10 gears helps with the loss of low end torque when adding cams. Long tubes just let's everything breath better and optimizes your motor setup. You don't need them but your better off with them.
