Default Rear Diff. Leak

Hey guys, i noticed diff. fluid under rear of my 2006 GT. its not from the cover, looks like from where yoke enters the front if the diff. A guy offered to change a seal for $100 plus parts, how hard would this be to do myself, or should i spend the $100? Or could it be a vent or something?

Sounds like the seal is leaking, the vent is at the top

It's probably an hour labor, so $100 may be average.

You'd need to remove the drive shaft, remove pinion flange nut, remove pinion flange. I've not done it or looked at the manual, but I'm sure there's a C-clip of some wort to hold the seal in, then the seal would just pop out.

If you have the tools, garage and mechanical experience....do it yourself. It's not to bad of a job plus you get to know your car better. A $100 bucks is a good price, more then fair....most garages around here in CT would charge around $200.

Very fair price...if the guy knows cars then go for it.

I attached a video on how to change the 8.8 rear seal, these guys seem like a couple of clowns, but it gives a overall picture as to what needs to be done. I wouldn't bother with marking the bolt, that's BS and you don't need a puller to remove the flange, a hammer works fine, bang it in a clock like pattern and you'll have no problems. easy job!
