Default MT82 1st slipping - PLEASE HELP!!

Hi, this all happened in one day.. please help! I have a 2012 5.0 6MT, Barton shift bracket and Redline MTL.

Today on the way to work at 6:50am, everything was fine.

Around 4:30pm on the way home from work I felt the clutch was kind of weird, but I thought it was just me wearing a pair of shoes I haven't really driven with.

Two hours later I go out, again.. wearing same pair of shoes. Then I get gas, and for some reason, as soon as I left the gas station I felt 1st gear just drop on me. Rest of the way I become increasingly worried and started feeling a noticeable difference in clutch feel, mostly in first.

After dinner, on the way home, I feel like it's going to stall every time I start in 1st. It doesn't matter how much I slip the clutch the car just vibrates and drops in RPM. It's clearly having issues hooking up in 1st.

I have no idea what the f is happening and I can't find anything on this. Could it be the gas? I know it sounds absolutely preposterous but I did first REALLY notice it even as I was leaving the gas station. Otherwise... wtf, all in one day? This is a DD that is driven the same soft way everyday with an occasional WOT.

If anyone can shed some light on this I would really appreciate it.

You said the clutch started to feel weird, and you said you felt unusual vibrations, mostly in 1st gear, and the vehicle has major issues transmitting torque/hp through 1st gear.

Does it transmit ANY torque/hp in first? And does the problem seem gradually less noticable when you get into 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc?

Your first question, I'd say yes as I can still get the car moving. But it's when at the point that it usually hooks up where I feel the vibration and feel like it almost stalls before it does hook up/

2nd does feel slightly off, third less, fourth even less. 5th feels normal.

Hmm. Judging from what you've said, it could be a clutch spring/pressure plate issue, might also explain the vibration. The clutch could be dragging past the normal friction zone, not fully engaged.

Then again, the symptoms could be misleading...it's so hard to say.

Sorry man. I know how ya feel.

Okay, no big deal I suppose. I will just take it into the dealership.

However, just to make it clear - since the Redline MTL I'm using is not technically within Ford specs (but was the most popular solution to notchiness in the MT82), should I replace it with something that IS within specs? How about the Barton shift bracket?

I guess I'm asking in terms of warranty.

If you still have the stock shifter/linkage, you can have the shifter bowl shimmed 0.060".

Some guy on youtube didn't like the notchiness and either did it himself or had it done. He offered written instructions via e-mail to a YouTuber.

sjwgroup@gmail.com

that's his e-mail.

Here is another guy that went with the barton shifter/bracket if you want to go that route. He used Redline MTL fluid though, which they might make a stink about at your dealership. I'd use stock fluid if/when you take it in.
