Well there are way more posts about failed rings in the #8 cylinder than spun bearings. However, the failed rings may or may not be caused by aftermarket tuning, the jury is still out on that one.

I'm not surprised spun bearings are showing up. 5w20 oil, 7,000rpm redline and 400+hp seems like a recipe for bearing failure. Some oil change places might be only adding 6 quarts as well, since that's what the 4.6 holds. There must be a good reason Ford calls for 8 quarts in the 5.0. Maybe running 2 quarts low can cause oil starvation under the right circumstances.

the old 5.0's held 5 quarts of 10w30. I know they aren't the same type of motor, but it's interesting how while recommended oil viscosity get's thinner, the capacity goes up.

Looks like fun. so did they swap the intake manifold to the new motor? You should build it up and get a blower to fill that space between the heads. That would be an uncontrollable beast of a car.

Yeah , It was a long block , so they had to re-use the manifold. Im afraid at 412 hp in a 1800lb car (or less with an all alum motor) will be about as much as I care to mess with. It has a cobra rear-end with a 410 gear in it , first , second and third will probably be useless. I may have to change out the gear, ill see how crazy it is once complete.
