Default Hood Vent Installed - Pics

I finally got the nerve to cut a hole in my hood. LOL I installed the hood vent yesterday and everything went as expected. I am pleased with the results aesthetically and hope that this mod will eliminate the hood flutter at 85+ while keeping the engine compartment cooler. I was unable to test the hood flutter this morning as there was a cop present on the interstate going the same direction.

I mounted the hood vent as far forward as I could without going past the radiator. The vent holes are directly over the gap just behind the radiator. I even cut and reinstalled the hood liner so I could retain the sealing that the Steeda CAI heat shield provides against the hood.

Looks like it sits a little high on the hood, how do you feel about the fitment? Is it supposed to sit up like that vs sit flush?

I'm pleased with the fitment. I used the front clamp of the hood vent along with additional 3M mounting tape to secure the sides down (I also used the rear factory bolt to secure it). It does sit on top of the hood instead of in a beveled area as the GT500 has stock, but I am happy with the results.

looks good... too bad I have a hood scoop on mine or I could consider that as a good mod!

Now I can't wait for it to rain! LOL Another forum member that did this mod said you can see how much air it is venting when it is raining... the droplets appear to levitate over the vent area.

I like it. A chin spoiler would really round off the front end.

Hmmm. Nice. Where'd you get this from? Is there a drop plate below it or no?

Thanks Tanner. Yes a chin spoiler would look nice, however my driveway says "don't even think about it!" I am lucky that I don't scrap the front bumper now...

You can get it at any Ford dealer or online at Tousey Ford or CJ Pony Parts. I used the instructions on CJ's website - they were actually written by a MF forum member.

No, there is no drop plate. But one really isn't needed as the vent holes are over the gap between the radiator and the engine. And there really isn't any room for anything below the vent. I was surprised after cutting the hole and closing the hood how close the throttle body and intake tube were to the bottom of the hood!

My search-fu, strong...

https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...hood-vent.html

Very nice..Will need to do this. Seems to be quite popular as a functional mod for others as well since it's relatively cheap.
