Default Key trouble

I'm currently at work and I'm about to finish my overnight shift. I tried to put my backpack inside the car, but the key fob isn't unlocking the car. I'm guessing I may be needing a new battery. I tried to open the driver side door by inserting the key, but I just found out that's not possible either (You learn something new everyday). Should I call home to have someone bring the spare key or is there another way I can get the car open? I've waited an hour and a half and no luck yet.

Sorry to hear about your key fob issue. That is odd the key didn't work in the door either.....
Did you get it resolved?
A similar thing happened to my Wife's VW Passat, so I disconnected the negative connection on the battery for about an hour. I reconnected the battery and all went well and starting working fine.

I had a similar incident, after I recieved my car back from at the shop. It turned out, the mechanic did not fully tighten the battery terminal connection, so I tightened it up and everything worked as normal. =-)

It's still not unlocking the car. How do I access underneath the hood without being able to get in the car? Is it even possible?

Only way to get the trunk open on a '10+ is with the key fob. I just opened up the fob and removed the battery for 5 minutes and it's working now! Thanks for the help!

Nice!!! I was just going to suggest removing the battery from the FOB key to possibly reset. LOL

I still don't understand why the key wouldn't open the door. I would have thought that the key is purely mechanical with no interactions or defeats from the electronics.

The only time this happened to me was my battery was dead and the lock was frozen stiff. I am curious as well...

I was also surprised by that. It isn't the first time that the key fob goes crazy on me like that. The two previous times I was able to unlock the door by manually putting the key in and turning it. For some odd reason, it wasn't unlocking it this morning.

I locked my key in the car with it runninng and opened the hood by going underneath the car, and using a leatherman i was able to unlatch the hood. this was on an 07, but you should be able to find the hood cable
