Default RE: Looking for rear drop only

OK...my local ford shop said they figure about 2-3 hours labor for the rear springs...which will cost me $200-225. Does that sound right...again, just for the rears?? Can anyone tell me what they've spent for this install??

Thanks

Mr. Mustang...looks like you have a chin spoiler...any clearance issues??
I do not have a chin spoiler and I would not reccommend getting one if you are going to lower the front too. I have about 4.5 inches of clearance measuring from the rocker panel. As for the installation it is a breeze if you are somewhat handy! Save yourself some money and do it yourself. If you have basic tools and a jack you will have no problem doing the back. The front are not that complicated either just need a spring compressor.

Dear 05Vert,

NO-NO-NO!!!

Do not have the dealership install your spings because they charge way too much $$$..

I live in Chicago where everything is priced higher and had my local muffler shop install the rear springs, an adjustable panhard brace and alignment the rear axle for $75.00 (OUT THE DOOR)...

Your dealer has a labor rate of probably about $75 - $90 per hour...

OUCH!!!

Go to a Midas, Merlins, Speedy, etc and talk to the guys there... They will take care of your for less money...

Best of Luck, and post pictures of your car afterwards... Dave

I also went with just the rear lowering springs from Rousch as I also have chin spoiler. My dealership installed mine for $95.00 +tax. It really looks good now.

One question i have is after awhile the springs settle in and drop a little more with some miles on them, has anyone found a problem with the rear settling lower then the front?

05vert: I changed my rear springs myself.Took me 30 minutes. It's VERY easy. If a dealer or anyone else quotes you 2-3 hours they are strokin' you.The only thing you unbolt is the 2 bolts for your shocks.Lower the rearend with a floor jack(after the car is on jack stands!) after the bolts are out and bingo....pull each spring out,in goes the new ones ,jack-up the rear ,put your shock bolts in, and your done. A very easy mod that pays off big-time.
