Get the GT500, you might end up paying a little more overall but the potential is so much greater and it's just mean right out of the showroom.

The only way I would go GT500 is if it was a 2009 or later. I would not buy a 2008 or below. The car would be 5 years or older. Most owners probably would have put the hammer down one too many times as well! I would also venture to say that if you compared the performance numbers from an 07 GT500 to a 13 GT they would be awfully close.

I hate to say this, but honestly, I have had my Snake for close to 2 months now, and I used to thrash on my SC'd '10 virtually every day. I've raced the Snake twice (once against some bikes and then a Shelby Cobra clone) but I'm much gentler on it than I was on any of my other mustangs. I don't know why...just feel more at peace and know that I can stomp pretty much anybody's @$$ on the road is good enough I guess

I've had several Mustangs in recent years; a 2004 GT, 2 2003 Mach 1's, a 2010 GT, my beloved 2009 GT, my wife's 2012 GT/CS, & my recently purchased 2009 GT500. I loved them all, but there's just something different about owning a GT500. I might never get rid of it, because I really don't know what I could possibly want over it. At least in my price range!

I thought 07-09 were 500
10 540 <-- I would choose this over a GT ANY DAY. There are some out there for 40K.
11-12 550

The 11'-12' Gt500's have the lighter weight in the front, and the much better performance than the 07-09 models. A 2013 5.0 with track pack will out corner a 07-09 GT500 and be nearly as fast.

The 08 GT500 Shelby KR is in my opinion the best looking shelby in existence, but is way over priced when you look at the performance of the 2011-2012 GT500s being better, lighter with superior suspension.

Tough to decide, unless your a drag racer, than of course you'll go with the older Shelby because of the engine potential. Erik

I have modded my 08 Snake with a Brenspeed stage 2 package (2.6 pulley...intake plenum etc)...dynotech DS...high flow cats and other little things...I am getting 14 lbs of boost. I have 12 k on the car now and I took it to the dyno a couple of weeks ago just to do some tweaking...we had 4 straps holding down the rear and still smoked the tires on the 5000 to 6000 rpm push...It managed a pull of 540 rwhp with the tires breaking loose...nothing like the sound and sight of my car smoking the tires at 145mph in 4 gear on the rollers...so go ahead...get that GT

Thanks...as you know... there is no way to explain the level of the GT500...but to get one is to have the "aaaa-haaa" moment!
