Welcome! And very, very nice ride I'm sure you'll do great things with it.

I had one of those for awhile and it could pick up a cop from a mile away hahaha it could also pick up scanners from Walmart from a mile away -_- Look into the Escort Live system, I'm looking at getting one myself. It's a very cool concept for detecting cops!

If you haven't had an Escort before, be advised that you need to be sure you put it in your glove box or center console when you park, atleast that's if you don't take it inside or with you...

I had an 8500 and would leave it on the windshield... In Texas it gets hot here, so after a while it started to act up... Sent it off to Escort and got it replaced, but afterwards I learned that the instruction manual specifically states not to leave it in a hot car... Apparently it damages the circuit board or something. I got rid of that replacement and never got another... I'm holding out for the V1. Maybe Escort has fixed this issue in the last 2 years, but I haven't heard about it.

Congrats on the purchase! I love the sterling greys...

As for radar, I have an Escort 8500. Like Don said, take it down every time you park, take it down. It gets hot in the southern states and I also wouldn't trust it sitting out in the open where any low life can see it.

I **** you not, I've picked up a cop on I-75 at 1AM from a mile and a half away (from first reading to passing). Solid investment, definitely saved me.

However, I'd buy the valentine one not only for the reputation (Escort's is good as well...) but for the directionals. Too often my radar goes off and I can't find the 5oh. Besides, look at that system... it just looks technical and solid: just my speed. After my 5.0 purchase, I'll be selling my Escort and purchasing a Valentine.

Yes.

The 13's have a different block over the 11/12's as well some kind of different coating over the pistons (not sure what exactly it is)

Very nice. So happy to see a proud new owner. NOW, if only I could turn my OD back to 5 miles. But had 50 miles on my '03 already, when I got home the first day. ENJOY!
