Glowshift oil filter adaptor and epic fail
So i figured, hey can get this done in under 30 mins.
Seemed simple enough.
http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/oil-f...pter-22mm.aspx
So the instructions made sense, i made sure the gasket was in the grommet where the adaptor met the block, bolted it on, cursed my front sway bar for about 5 mins trying to get the oil filter in , but managed to get it done.
Fire it up, and no lie, within 4 seconds the entire contents of my oil pan wound up on my garage floor via the adaptor.
Look underneath, and i can see that the gasket between the block and adaptor was actually forced out and was sticking part way out.
Took me about an hour to clean up the mess ( i didnt have any kitty litter or anything to soak up the oil )
Ive replayed the whole install process in my mind about a dozen times, and im 99% sure i had the gasket lined up and was tight.
Good thing i had another 5 L of mobil 1, but im choked i wasted an hour cleaning up and 5L of good motor oil ( just did an oil change )
So..................................im on the fence now.
Do i try the install again ?
Or should i go to home depot and rig up my own jumble of brass T's and adaptors and plug into the stock sending unit?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
TIA

Did you lubricate the o ring on the adapter before installing?
was the adapter tight? or did you just tighten till the fittings were where you thought they should be?
It sounds like the o ring wasn't lubricated and twisted out or the block wasn't tight and the pressure forced the o ring out.

success this time.
triple checked that o ring was seated on the adaptor, and cinched the hell out of the bolt to hold the adaptor in
fired it up and it didnt leak
then i saw oil was weeping from the oil pressure sender so i had to pull it and wind more teflon tape on the sucker
now, what is normal oil pressure on the car?
i dont have my a-pillar guage pod yet, so rigging it up on the engine bay, i saw around 55 lbs at idle
