Exchanging Mach1 for newer??

Exchanging Mach1 for newer??
So after many years of wanting a mustang I have owned a Mach1 for 3 years. Even with sports spring the handling is horrible. So much so I don't feel very confident driving it at the limit. I currently do HPDE events so one screw up could be the end.
So do these later mustang handle any better or would I just be swapping out one bad handling car for another?
Right now my Mach1 handles like a fat lady on roller skates!
I fear I may have to move away from Mustang onto something else.

Check this out, Comparison: 2011 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2011 BMW M3 Coupe, should give you an idea of the newer Mustangs handling.

I don't think you can beat the new 2011 or newer Mustang GT's for handling at their price level. I was amazed at how great mine handled when I first purchased it. This is my first Mustang but compared to Camaros I've owned in the past my 2011 Mustang is so much better it's not even close.

Lol, not to say the new ones aren't great at handling.. But what kind of springs did you put on your Mach? Plus springs by themselve aren't going to do a whole lot without matching a good strut combo.. Suspension (on any Mustang) is par from the factory, and needs to be balanced just right.. Can't just throw springs at one and expect a miracle ride.

Depends on what you mean by later mustang.
If you are talking 05-10 out of the box, they are mediocre unless you build it into a track car but probably still better than a new edge/mach1.
Having sticky tires and trying to corner on a good day works but I still find it easy to loose your rear end if you aren't careful. I definitely wouldn't try anything on a slick/wet day.
I haven't driven 11+ but they are supposed to corner much better than the 05-10.

I'll put this here for you too...
Upgrade. I own a '03 Mach and a '06 GT. Both have suspension upgrades and I feel like the Mach is just a set of performance struts/shocks away from keeping up with my more modded S197. That one mod will make a HUGE difference! Go with Koni Sports (have them on my '06)!!! You'll be very happy that you did!
PS Sam Strano just got a shipment in of Koni Sports. Looks like destiny my man!

My husband's good buddy had an '03 GT that I drove a few times. Stock for stock my car and his handled roughly the same (My V6 had a better ride and feel, but not a huge difference.) Now that I have Koni Str. Ts, Ford K springs and new front sway bar it handles really well.
If you are doing events you are most likely going to have to mod any Mustang you get, or any car really.

I just put some Strange Adjustable struts and shocks on my car. Bought them for their drag racing applications but am very happy with how they handle on the streets and around corners. What a difference shocks make and the 10 way adjustability is amazing. Feels like a totally different car.
