rear speaker grille for 2013 ??
Hey everyone -
I have read quite a bit on this forum as well as others on how painful it can be to switch out the rear speakers. Just wondering, and I know this would take time and patience, but what 'if' another approach would be to cut out holes over the speaker area. That way the factory speakers could be easily accessesed and then buy grilles to somehow go in place of the newly cut holes. Of course, I haven't thought this out totally on how to connect the grilles.

I have aftermarket speakers in my 13 GT, I didn't find it difficult at all to install. I haven't read much on the forum yet so I am not sure why people say it is hard. I just dropped the back seats down, pulled the clips behind the seat belts, then slid the whole thing out, starting from the sides, then it slides out towards the front. I may have pulled out the plastic a little from the sides, not hard to do either.
To install them I flipped the screws and clips around so next time I don't have to worry about pulling out the back part to do anything with the speakers.
To respond to your original though, I would imagine that cutting holes would work just fine, and you could get speakers with grills that are included. or just use velcro... then you could take it off easily, and it would keep the grills in place.

Glad I could help, I think the hardest part was unscrewing the speakers themselves, In my last mustang I think i had to get a socket, put an adapter in it, then use pliers, but this time I think I had a screwdriver with the right attachment this time, still not the easiest, but very doable. I also hid my gps antenna on the rear deck while it was out, a lot more stealthy than on the trunk or fender where I had it last time
I was wrong, sorry, I just went out and looked and you will need to pull the side panel out to get to the two plastic clips behind the seat belt. Here are a few pics.
This shows 2 clips to remove to get to the deck clips, it is identical on both sides.

This shows the 2 clips that are under the seat belt, I held back the side panel and it seems like there is plenty of room to pull these clips then to slide out the back panel.
Hope this explains better.
