Interesting Odometer theory??
Ok so I installed 4.10's last week in the GT. Which rock by the way! I didnt bring my sct tuner with me so driving home from the shop the speedo was way high from the previous 3.55's. I reloaded the tune with a 4.10 axle and fixed that right up. Now, I got to thinking if i loaded a tune that said i had say a 4.56 ratio the speedo would read a much slower speed than actually going HOWEVER could possibly put less miles on the odometer?!?! The question is if the odometer is connected with the speedo?
Driving to work every day I dont think i would bother but if Im going on a long freeway or road trip I could use my rpm's to know the true speed im going.. (75mph at 2500rpm in fifth gear) If this works it could save alot of miles over time and I plan on keeping the car pretty much forever so its really just a satisfaction thing. Has anyone already tried this or even know if the speedo and odometer are even linked this way?? Im super curious to try this out!

No different than guys putting big tires on their lifted truck without an adjusted tune.... But still not cool man. That's just dishonest. And if it's just a 'satisfaction thing', won't you still know that the miles are on there? Then what's the point.

So how is that a satisfaction thing? I don't get it.. Like so you can brag about your low mileage car or something years from now?.. If you ever try to sell it without disclosing that the odometer is off then it's fraud though, and is punishable..

If it were a satisfaction thing, I would think you'd want it to show more mileage quicker, not the other way around. This seems more like a fraudulent thing which = big no no
Personally, I'm looking forward to the day I can say my body/chassis has 300k miles on it and it's still going. Going to be a great feeling. Hell, I might even try for 500k
