Seems like a lot of oil usage for the miles you have on the car. After break in...these engines do not use much at all. My '07 GT never used any oil at all....

They are notorious for pulling excess oil vapor through the PCV hoses and burning it off. Best thing to do is check your level periodically and top it off. You can also buy a oil/air separator to reclaim the oil in the PCV lines and prevent it from entering the intake and funking things up.

I have 48k miles and go through a quart every 6k

I don't have any consumption like that but then again I'm only around 15K miles or so.. I also use 5-30 or 10-30 depending on weather..

I can't see your avi while on my iPod, but don't you have a 2010 GT, Trex? Did they up the recommended weight to 5w30 or is that what you prefer?

Increased viscosity would decrease consumption..

It is a 2010.. The recommended is 5-20 however I don't buy into that because that's mainly for CAFE fuel consumption standards.. 5-30 or 10-30 is mucho better to use and only takes a hair longer to warm up.. IF I lived in the northeast or something that would be different.

Is this only after one level check since the oil change? I'd get a few more data points before you believe there's an issue, if that's the case.

I usually look at it twice in between oil changes! It always goes down a little after 4 to 5000kms! It was at the top of hash mark and after 5000km it's down to in the middle of hash mark its still in safe zone but I'm still wondering why it would go down like that! I don't beat my car at all
