Default 2006 4.0 to 5.0 swap feasible with donor car?

So I've been thinking about putting mods on my 06 4.0 but if I purchased say a 2012 salvage gt 5.0 and used it as a donor car would I be able to swap most of the stuff into my 2006?

It's been done, there are some complications with power steering and a few other things, but it's possible. I have done the 4.6 swap in my '05 v6, if you have the money to spend just use the 4.6 build it to 5.0 stroker and slap a supercharger on it.

Use a donor car or just get the engine? And about how much did the conversion cost you?

Donor car is much easier because you will have everything in front of you, I pieced mine all together. I added some extra items to my swap, like cams, FRPP Intake manifold, full exhaust, alum. driveshaft and some extra stuff. It probably ran me around 6-7k for everything.

2006 5.0 Coyote would be alot more badass than a fully modded 4.0 or even 4.6L

Be prepared to also do a full upgrade on suspension, differential (I dunno if the 2010+ bolt up on the 05-09), and possibly brakes.

Everything is pretty much the same suspension/brakes rear end related. I have 2012 gt500 rear end with the sway bar on my 06. Nothing is different. The brakes are the same. The front of 2011+ will have a different bracket for larger rotors, but it will bolt right up (I'm running 2011 5.0 front brakes/rotors).

The biggest issue will be the engine and tranny, but as stated before, its not impossible..

You'll have major challenges with the engine control (PCM) and wiring. Although I believe there is a conversion kit available.
The mechanical aspects are straightforward.

I would be highly interested in doing this to my 05. I been wanting to swap it over for a V8 for a while but I cant seem to force feed myself a built 4.6 when the 5.0 is out there.

I will be watching this thread.

It seems like the others have said the engine and trans itself wouldnt be that hard a problem to throw in, its the wiring and electrical stuff that scares the crap outta me.

At this point I'd just buy a 2013 GT.

But since you're absolutely in love with your 2006 I hope this gives you hope

Thanks guys, which would be less complicated and cheaper the 4.6 or 5.0?
