You CAN use Regular, however the car will reduce the amount of power it makes. If you want the most power, you should fill up with 91 Octane.

A 91 Tune, is an aftermarket tune that requires 91 octane fuel. A tune tells the car's computer to work differently in order to make more power, but requires a certain grade of fuel to do so.

Premium fuel's octane rating varies by State. In Oregon, it's 92 octane. In some states, it's 91, and in others, its 93+. Many states put Ethanol in their fuel.

Ethanol, though it lowers your MPG a bit, raises the effective octane rating. That said, I don't know if 92 octane with 10% ethanol means its 92 octane WITH the ethanol, or 92 octane gas before the ethanol is added.

The same can be said about the price of the fuel..

pay 3.41$ a gallon or pay 3.69 a gallon, only a few percent difference in price for a 10 hp gain . well i guess its about a 7.5% difference in price

But i think its worth it to me to pay like 2-3$ more per tank to have 10 more hp and have the car running like it should be

So, let me get this straight: does the car need the after-market 91 tune in order for it to get the benefit of using 91 or 93 octane? I just filled up with 93 and I am pretty sure this car has not had that 91 (or 93) tune. Will I notice an increase in power?

No you don't need a tune for the car to benefit from 91. However, a car will benefit greatly in terms of power from a 91 or 93 specific tune.

Okay, one final question: how much does a 93 time cost on average?

That would be: how much does a 93 TUNE cost?
