Default Stepper Motors?

I've done some searching and I'm pretty sure my stepper motors are acting up, but I wanted to get a second opinion from anyone in the know.

Several months ago the tach on my 2005 GT stopped working. The next time I started the car, everything was fine. Then a couple of months ago my gas gauge was showing 1/4 tank shortly after filling up. It corrected itself the next day, but it's happened a couple of times again since. This morning my speedo was reading 45 mph while sitting in the driveway. Then at lunch it was reading 35 mph while stopped. Then after lunch it was reading 20 while stopped.
The problems have only been with the gauges, and the computer read-out has always been correct (for mileage, MPG, etc.). So before I go through all the hassle of replacing the stepper motors, am I right in thinking that is my problem?
Thanks!

Sounds to me like your experiencing stepper motor issues. Over the past years or so, I've been experiencing issues with my temperature and RPM gauges. Some days they work fine and other days they don't. Sitting at idle, my RPM gauge will be off anywhere between 250 - 750 RPM. If the temp is below 60 degrees, my temperature gauge does not even move. I've had my temp checked out and everything is fine. I am positive it's just the stepper motor acting up and will eventually go out. I haven't experienced any issues with the other gauges (knock on wood).
