Default Mice Attack

Well today I finally installed my battery tender and unfortunately I found out mice have been at my Stang

The part that I noticed they chewed on/threw is the material underneath the hood of the car. its about a finger length long and a half inch wide and all the way threw.

Since the car is not stored at my place I don't go and check up on it a lot. It has only been sitting about a month now so I am hoping this is the most of the damage.

Any ideas on what I can do to prevent from further attacks?
I did minimal reading about moth ***** and dryer sheets... apparently they don't like the smell?

Would love some feedback and tips!
Thanks!

I've had similar problems with an '85 I don't drive often. I have been advised to spread Bounce dryer sheets around the car. Seems mice hate that smell. Seems to be working.
Worth a shot. Doesn't cost much and it makes your car smell nice.

Yeah I've done some more research since my post.
It seems like dryer sheets/mothballs and traps is the best option and easy on the wallet to!

I there a way to replace the material underneath the hood? I'm not sure I saw it on any mustang part website?

I use to use mothballs to keep the mice away underneath the hood when I had my 83. I would not suggest using mothballs inside the car. The smell of them does not seem to go away for a very long time. Now I use dryer sheets and leave a open box of baking soda on the floor inside. I would try mouse traps as suggested.

My word, attack of the avenging mice! Dryer sheets are my vote.

If you're talking about the hood blanket, yes - they are available. I got a new one for my '85 GT.

I would not use mouse traps. In order to be effective, you have to bait the traps. What does that do? It attracts mice! Since you don't check on the car frequently, you might return to find some decayed mice. That's not likely to be a pleasant odor. Mouse traps are good only if you check them frequently.
