Default Ghost Cam Tune??

K please someone straighten this out for me....I'm about to get my 5.0 and wanted that ghost cam tune but I hear

it no longer is an option

It caused problems like blown motors.

And ford told everyone they can't do a "ghost cam"

What is the deal with it?? Will it hurt my car if I can still get it?

Can it go on a older mustang?

Please help I'm only a week away from my 5.0

PM one of the American Muscle guys on this board. They should be able to give you all the answers to your questions.

I don't have the answers to your questions, but wanted to say I heard the ghost cam tune a few weeks ago when I went home for Thanksgiving, on a guys car that works with my brother in law, and it was pretty cool. Standing there and listening to a car lope because of a tune was unreal.

Good luck!

It may still be an option for some tuners

It never caused blown motors, they just popped anyway. Tuners that disabled the knock sensors certainly didnt help the issue.

Ford got all angry because the track key for the boss was essentially a ghost cam tune. So the guys making the ghost cam tune stopped.

If you can find a tuner to get it, go for it.

It won't work on anything except a 2011+. The tune uses the twin variable cams to decrease the LSA, thus making it sound lopey.

American Muscle does have this tune. You just have to ask for it. No it wont hurt your car but it wont help it either (HP/TQ). You have to have an X pipe. I am not sure if it has to be an off road or just a Catted X. Thats y I couldnt get it.

My guess, if you have a high flow catted mid, or catless mid, they can sell it as an "off-road" tune

Dudewright0715,

Just wanted to clear a few things up for you!

- I haven't heard of any companies' Ghost Cam tune causing blown motors.

- In respect to Ford, only ghost cam tunes that are custom written from scratch are allowed- such as Bama's Ghost Cam tune.

-It won't hurt your car in anyway, as long as you have an Off Road mid-pipe. This means either an X or H pipe with no cats -not even high-flow cats.

-You can only get it on 11+ Mustangs with variable valve timing.

-Bama does offer a "Bama Cam" tune for 11+ 5.0's. The only requirements that we have is- Must be a manual transmission and must have no catalytic converts.

If you're interested in our Bama cam tune and you meet the requirements, feel free to give the Bama Team a call @ 888.226.9764 and they'll hook you up. Of course you must be enrolled into our Free Tunes for Life program as well. You can do this by purchasing an SF3 tuner for your new 5.0 or if you already have an xCal-3 SCT tuner, you can enroll yourself for $150.

Hope this clears things up for you. Let me know if you have any questions!

Shane
