Default 05 v6 mustang

Im looking to get some more hp and torque out of my 05 v6 4.0. i have been searching on american muscle.com and have decided to get a bbk cai, bama tune and a bbk 70mm throttle body. i dont have a huge amount of cash to drop into this but i was just wondering if these 3 items are worth getting??

CAI/Tune is always a great starter mod. Throttle body won't do much unless you have a lot of things under your hood to compliment it. CAI/Tune should be first, then after that you should change your gearing if you want better acceleration off the line or you can do full exhaust to give you some power and a better sound

Skip the BBK throttle body, if you don't have a lot of cash it is not worth the hassle that everyone else seems to go through on the 4.0 with the BBK. And it doesn't seem to add any performance.

Thats for the info guys. I forgot to add several other specs. It is a 5speed, i have aftermarket headers and a single flowmaster exhaust. Not sure what brand of headers, they were on it when i bought the car back in 2010

Zack,

A CAI and Bama tune will definitely wake up your 4.0! A throttle body is definitely a great mod as well, however the gains from the TB won't be huge if you're just running a bolt on V6. It's a very good platform mod if you plan on going Supercharged or Nitrous and it will still pick up some decent power!

However I agree with Ecox, if you're looking to do a budget build I would probably recommend a set of gears as well. Those are definitely the most beneficial mod for the butt dyno! You'll feel a huge improvement in torque and acceleration down low and through out the entire curve.

This is just a few suggestions, either way you listed a ton of great mods and you can't go wrong! Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance. When I had my 06 V6, i decided to go with a C&L intake and a tune from justin at VMP. If you're planning on going FI, swap your 7.5" rear axle with an 8.8" and get a set of 3.73's for A/T, 4.10's for M/T. The FRPP dual exhaust kit and an aluminum D/S will help your 4.0 in performance.

Thanks for all of the help guys, i am going to go with the CAI & Tune first. once i get that installed i will move on to the next. Not sure what it will be. i was also thinking about getting the SR lowering springs. however, i have hear that by getting the lowering springs alone, the car will not ride as well. can anyone confirm that???
