This! We need to know this information lol. 05-06 and it could be the infamous cowl water leak, 07+ and the water likely got to high and came in somewhere else.

Since his car is out of warranty probably will he have to pay for the repair himself even though Ford knows of the TSB issue?

You guys were dead on. The I took it to the dealer and they said it was the cowl - and yep, it's an 06 Mustang. I brought it to the Ford dealership's mechanic, and they cleaned out the cowl and also disassembled the entire interior and removed and disinfected the carpet. I've only had the car for a month, and this is some pretty major work! They changed the air filter and altogether it set me back $660.

I guess there's no way to rule out the possibility that pascal mentioned - it's possible that the water level was higher and above the door before I got back. I can check the door drain holes tomorrow.

BTW, luckydawg003 great question about the warranty. I would hope the answer is yes, but I suppose this is hoping for too much. Still, I can call and try to find out. Do you guys have any ideas? Was this ever a "recall" issue?

Oh please don't say... they charged you $660. For that price, I'd expect new carpet!

Stealership... I'm sure they talked it up like it's a lot of work.

What did they put on the invoice?

Go back and bitch at their face. That is insane IMO. Glad you got it squared away though.

If you have comprehensive insurance coverage, water damage should be covered except for the amount of your deductible.

Unless he has a $250 deductible or lower, it's a wash (no pun intended ) I would just call it done.

I'd be calling ford customer service and complaining about that! It's their design flaw. Where's that ford customer service girl that lurks on these forums?

How does he know for sure?
The water might have recessed by the time he got to his car...
My point also was that if it rained hard enough and if his drain plugs were clogged, the water will get inside, especially if the car is parked on a slope.

OP, remove your plugs... It won't hurt anything.

dastanley,

My name is Cory and I’m the Ford Service rep for the forum now. I wanted to check in to be sure you’re staying dry after the repair. Recalls are VIN specific, so send me your VIN in a PM and I’ll be happy to review to see if there is a recall assigned to your car. You can also go to this link to input your VIN to check for recalls:
