Default Minor but annoying problem

2012 w/3000 miles - Center console door/lid no longer opens when I push in the the unlock bar on the top front. I have to lift it up/open. Used to just spring open when I pushed the bar in. Just normal use...

Anyone have this happen or have possible diy fix suggestion? Is there a spring or something that can be adjusted? Looked but couldn't find anything.

Thanks for any help.

Try using some WD40 in the moving parts. I usually use my thumb to push the bar and use 1,2 fingers to hold the front and pull, that's with the cup holder open of course.

I don't see why you wouldn't just take it in to the dealer at this point. Just makes sense!

Yeah - Dealer is always an option (probably best) - just wait until I have to take it in for something else. Just wondering if anyone else had this and a diy solution. I'll try uncoolron's wd40 suggestion - I also now push in the bar and have to lift it up... If I take it in I will post back what happens. Thanks.

If your dealer is anything like mine you have to schedule an appointment for warranty work tried to get them to look at something while changing my oil and had to schedule another appointment just to have them look at it not sure if they will even be able to fix it the same day.

Reason why I was trying to find out if anyone else had this (albeit minor) issue and had a DIY fix. Probably have to schedule an appointment just for that and maybe leave it all day so they could replace part or order it and then have to bring it back...

Thanks for your feedback.

It probably is a DIY fix....but if your car is under warranty, you should take advantage of it and have dealer fix everything..

The other issue with trying to fix it yourself is, if you mess something up in the process they can say it was your fault and not fix it under warranty...
