Question In the market now...GT500(08)/GT500(11)/GT(12)?

Hello all

So I'm finally in the market for a mustang again...
I'm having a real tough choice deciding between buying one of these 3 types

1. 2011 GT500 43,000 (500 miles)
2. 2011 GT500 40,000 (19K miles)
3. 2008 GT500 29,000 (26k miles)
4. 2012/2011 mustang GT 24-27k (under 15,000 miles)

I REALLY want the 11' shelby and would be putting 28-30k down and financing about 14k with fees and taxes. Monthly would be 325 for 5 years. (NOT BAD AT ALL) I would most likely pay 400mo. to get it over with in 3 years.

It is affordable to me but this is the first time I've ever financed a car and I'm a little scared of month to month payments since it is something new to me....but I plan to keep this car for the rest of my life.

I just want any input on anyones similair decisions.
Any owners who went from 08 GT500 to a 2011 GT500?
Any one who went 2011 GT500 to a 5.0?

My car will be used as a daily driver, I like speeding but won't over abuse, none or very little tracking will be done, and I live in los angeles.

I also don't have a garage so whichever car will be parked outside

Thanks in advance.

I would be paranoid to leave a Shelby outside and use as a daily driver.

If you want the '11 Shelby, that would be th one that I would go with. Go with your gut!

it's just a car. treat it as such, use it to your hearts content, park it outside. it's insured and everything is replaceable, right? it's not all that rare.

drive both. see if the 5.0 offers enough grunt for you - it's not easy to get more legal horse power in your state.. so if the 5.0 isn't enough I would suggest you get the gt500. the 5.0 is plenty quick, though.

Completely agree. As nice of a car as the GT500 is, it simply won't be a collector car. Have fun with whatever you get. Not sure I'd be shelling out 40k+, even for a 2011 GT500. I'd probably be tempted to save another 10k and get a slightly used base 2013 in a few months.

Had a triple black 09 GT500 that I swapped for an 11 GT500. As nice as the 09 was the 11 is much more "finished" and I think is better overall. Plus the 11 has an alluminum block and most likely has sync and all the goodies, which would be better for a daily driver in my opinion. Mine has the SVT Performance Package that has the 3:73 gears, suspension and wheels upgrade. You can tell the difference because of its thinner stripes if your not sure.

How old are you? You have $30,000 to put down on a car, but you never financed a car before? Are you a home owner?

Financing $14,000 for 4 years at 5% is only $322 per month. Not sure what kind of interest rate you could get since you've never had a n auto loan. I think my credit union is still offering 2.49% on a used car, which is nutz!

No car will be a collector car if it's a DD. Who wants a 10 year old car with 200k miles on it? (figuratively speaking).

If your gonna drive it til you kill it, get the 08. It's fast, it's fun and, it will save you money over the 11. IMO only, I like the S197 body style better in gerneal but, for some odd reason, I like the GT500's 10+ body style. Even so, I'd get the 08. Your going to end up modding it anyway, we all do. Also, an 08 GT500 can be had for less money that that bud. Be willing to travel. Think about it.. Your in Cali... a plane ticket to Texas and a fun 2 day drive home would blow about 1k of your money BUT.. if you got the car for 6k less.. YOU WIN. An 08 GT500 could be had for around 30k I figure.. so, you end up with absolutely no payment and no loan.
