Best POWER Adder for the money?
Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and I'm on a budget and would appreciate some advice to a good and reliable power adder. I'm only 16 and just bought a 2009 mustang gt after finishing a restoration and selling my 1972 Dodge Dart. I only can work with about 2500 bucks right now. Let me know what your advice would be and experience with certain power adders. Right now I'm leaning towards a Paxton 1200 tuner kit. Any luck with these? Overheating problems?
Thanks in advance,
Jason

If you don't have money to replace the motor, then don't do it!
When I was shopping, the whipple kit was the best bang for the bucks at $5800, because you got reliability, best customer service in the business, gt500 dual fuel pump system, spark plugs, everything necessary to make big power. Now they want a lot more, so I don't know what's the best route today.
A tuner kit means you get no tune, no tuner, no injectors, no spark plugs, no fuel system, basically just the blower and intercooler/heat exchanger. Paxton and vortech both had their fair share of failures when doing a google search. Mostly bearings failing inside the blower. The latest models are probably more reliable. I think paxton now uses a self contained, sealed unit, instead of using engine oil to lube the bearings.

Maybe I should just change rear end gears to liven the engine up. My car is an Eleanor clone and badged as a gt500. I want something that will change performance significantly because I feel kinda stupid riding around in a car that's suppose to have 500 hp but only has 300

Well 4.10 gears will livin it up for sure. If my rear end goes out on me, I'm going to replace the whole thing with an frpp boss rear axle for $1400. it's hard to beat that price for a fully assembled beefed up 8.8 with 3.73 gears. Repairing mine would cost about the same for a shop to do it.
if you don't have a CAI and tune, then I would recommend starting there. It's affordable and safe, plus you'll need a tuner to change your gear ratio.

After thinking things over and some serious research, I have decided I am going to go with the nitrous. I like the idea of my engine not always being under boost and "purges" are also cool. Thanks for helping me with the decision guys, next post from me will be a video of my car dyno...I'm so excited!!
