Default Line lock question

So I have researched this and I just want to make sure that a guy can use line locks on an automatic. U can use it in the burn out box and as your launching. I never really found a clear answer to this.

Thanks

A line lock is used for doing a burnout in the box prior to staging and a transbrake is used for launching. To answer your question... Yes, a line lock can be used on an auto for the burnout box but not used for launching.

It can be used for both. With the using it to launch, a second kit can be added that controls the rear brakes added in conjunction with a two step. Very popular method to cut a good light and control the launch.

I've seen people use line locks on just the fronts with the right stall and 2 step combo. Like simon said, very effective. If I ever go auto, I'll be launching off of the line lock and the 2-step.

Running a line lock with a 2 step won't work well. The rpms used on the 2 step will only force the rear tires to spin. I think you guys are seeing a transbrake and not a line lock.

The transbrake used in conjunction with a 2 step works well and that's what it's designed to do. The brake holds the power in the tranny according to your set rpms of the 2 step. When you're ready to launch you release the transbrake and launch. The transbrake locks the converter and hold the tranny at your designated rpms.

My 85 gt had an auto with a transbrake and 5500 stall converter. My 2 step was set at 5500rpms. I would do my burnout with the line lock, stage and hold the transbrake button while bringing the rpms up to 5500 on the 2 step. Then, when I was ready to launch, I released the transbrake button and launched while seeing the sky and holding on.
