Default Thinking about swapping transmissions

I have an 08 v6 with about 49000 miles on it. Thinking about putting a manual trans in and taking the automatic out. Good or bad idea? And how much could I get for my auto if I sold it?

This was talked about on here recently. You need a lot more than just the transmission and clutch. You need pedal assembly, All the hydraulic lines, obviously the stick, plus a new drive shaft I'm sure. Not to mention a new pcm. Your stock computer is not going to be happy when it doesn't see your automatic.

Does the v6 transmission use a hydraulic clutch?

As dumb as this may seem. I didn't even think of that. Maybe a trade up might not be such a bad idea

yeah its not just the tranny that you need.
if anything i would trade up if it were me. actually, i had an auto 05 v6 and traded for a '10 gt manual. Best move ever, you'll love the power if you go with a gt.

If an 05-13gt is not in your budget, look at trading for a new edge, those are great cars too for sure

Also, the resale value of your used automatic transmission is probably pretty depressing.

Plus selling/trading the car with the tranny swap would most likely be real hard. Always think....would you buy a car with that done to it.....before you do any permanent mods.
