Paging Ford4V429 :)
pulled the motor in 84 - not long after some a$$hole kids tossed a full beer bottle from speeding/oncoming car- bent pillar(probably saved my life) blew the windshield/chipped paint across roof, rear wing...got so pissed decided it wouldnt see the road again until fixed right, and 429 power was part of the desired fix...sold 60k mile 302- no going back... got really busy at work for about 10 years(70-90 hours), car sat, divorced, remarried, kids...one had major medical issues, wife cancer...car just took backseat in the grand scheme of things, but still my favorite 'thing'...next thing you know, here it is 21 years later. Funny how life's little bumps in the road can change how you look at 'things'. last 5 years things have kinda settled down, getting back into the car hobby a little bit- kids are getting big enough(6,7 & 9) to want to 'help work on things' now, so still plan to get after it.
Saw the new mustang last year, caught mustang fever again- expect next summer will be 69's 'recovery' time finally. My '69 429 has been in the family since around '72- ended up my first car in '80- promptly totalled...never give a kid a bigblock. Rebuilt it(just rings/bearings) when I was 16, will need gone thru again...429 was in 2 door 69 gal- detectives car from local police dept- mom and dad got at city auction- that car would fly- even for its size, most powerful thing I ever recalled driving...stock had 480 ft/lb at under 3k, yet would rev like a smallblock...silky smooth, quiet as a churchmouse, yet gobs of torque and still screaming topend- relatively small 3.59 stroke(smallblock range) 4.36 bore(thats a BIG hole), long rods to keep sidethrust down(1.8 something rod length/stroke ratio- almost identical to 426 hemi...wonder if coincidence...). Mom and Dad both had leadfeet, I learned to love riding behind a high compression 429 at an early age. Way too much for the mustang, just always dreamed of a car that could smoke the tires from highway speed. someday. hopefully someday soon.
well, in a nutshell thats why the poor 69 has sat so long, but God willing if we all stay healthy, its still at the top of the list of things I WANT to do- hopefully the things I NEED to do wont keep cutting in line forever...

Nice ride .. Hope you get a chance to get it back on the road this year. Even sounds like the kids would be really into it. I miss the Mach.. It got stolen and when I got it back, it was just a shell. I dodn't have the heart to redo it again
When I first got her, she had a 302 because the guy blew the Windsor. I found a 351 Cleveland in a 70 1/2 falcon and put that in there.. That thing MOVED.. To fast for a 18yr old. I don't know how I didn't wreck.
ANyway, that is the real attraction about the 05/06. Its a nice cross between the 69 and the 67 Fastback I had
