A friend of mine says if I were to install a blower, it would be easier to stall the car because the engine has to work harder and the blower is parasitic.

Is this true? I thought it would be opposite because of the added torque it gives

Looking at the other replies, I'm not sure if I should reply or not. A supercharger like whipple or kennebell, edlebrock, any positive displacement blower is not causing much of any parasitic lose unless the bypass valve is closed. So unless you are giving it more than 25% throttle, which you won't during normal driving, it will just be like another idler pulley.

If you are making boost, then you don't care how much horsepower the blower is using, because you are making more than enough to spare.

No, you will not stall the car more. Your friend is misinformed like so many before him/her.

Never heard that one before - and as moosestang said, your friend is gravely mistaken.

What does the friend drive, that may explain his knowledge level?

You're friend doesn't know as much as he thinks. Sorry for the confusion. You can see how I could think you meant actually starting the car in first right, lol
