Default Serious question/problem

I have about $6000 that I plan on putting towards my car and now I can't decide what to do. I was thinking of getting a v8 and building it with cams and heads and all that fun stuff then later on getting a blower on it. Now I'm thinking it would be easier to build my v6 and put the xcharger xtreme on it. I want around 400hp can I get that out of my v6 safely without blowing it? No I'm not trading my car in. I already have the 8.8 rear with 3.55.

Well, you aren't down for my plan. $6000. Would have been a nice down payment and a trade is much more cost effective than a swap. I guess if I were you, I'd start a Roth IRA.

You won't come close to 400 RWHP with the 4.0 without making it unreliable as a DD. Even the 4.6L takes a blower to reach 400.

Sounds like the tax man hooked you up. As you're attached to your car, I'd go for the v8 swap. I'd also go for the 5.0 which is probably more expensive (and probably more than just the 6k you have...) and more complicated, but you'd get over 400hp NA out of the gate and solid foundation for later bolt ons.

You won't get to 400 RWHP with the Xcharger Xtreme. I loved my Xcharger, but it isn't going to give you a big dyno sheet to show everyone.

You may get there if you can get the new intake assembly and a TVS R1900 blower in place of the MP90. NicePony is working on it now, but has not been able to get it to a dyno yet.

Heard they have a good deal going on for trade ins! 400 is possible in the sixxer but would be much easier with an 8! Your car your money. No matter what we all say, it's your decision

The only reason I don't want to trade is cause my car is paid off and if I have monthly payments that will mean less money for mods. I have a buddy selling a 4.6 and trans out of his 05 with 22,000 miles on it for$3000 so was thinking to do heads and cams with the rest of the cash but I don't know. What will be hp with just a set of heads and cams?

The 4.6L puts down about 265 RWHP stock and with heads, cams AND LT's along with a good CAI & custom tune should put down in the 315-325 range. On the other hand, the 5.0 stock puts down about 350 off the showroom floor and picks up about 10-20 more on it's own after a dozen k miles or so.

The point is that you WONT HAVE PAYMENT WITH YOUR TRADE & THE $6K. You will prob have a bit left over.
You wont have any warranty on the work you are planning on & it can get real expensive sorting out any issues you WILL have after a swap like that. A new GT will have a warranty & no issues.

There is so much supporting mods u need to get the V6 to 400 rwhp.

Drive shaft, I wouldnt trust the stock DS w/ that power.
Transmission, will it handle it? Prob not.

Your gonna eat up a good portion of $6k just getting the car ready for what you want.

Buy a GT, you will be amazed at how fast you get over losing the 6.
