Default MisFire

I have brought a new Mustang 4.V6 1999 60k miles

Went to service it. Changed the Oil and air filter and Spark Plugs (MotorCraft Plugs).

Since I have done the above it has been misfiring.
I have changed the spark plug wires as the Plugs have never been changed.

And it is still misfiring. The Engine light will come on and then 5 mins later it will flash and then it will turn off and so on.

I did drive it while it was misfiring to the garage to get the leads.

Any ideas how I have managed to mess it up???

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bad coil pack on one of the cylinders.

same thing here bad coil pack, causes misfire and runs like crap

Well I have ordered one today and I will be collecting it tomorrow.

Would replacing the Plugs really course the coil pack to fail? Or is the Coil really that sanative to a change in voltage with the new plugs? I understand the leads they they are rubbish.


Just hope this sorts the problem out as its driving me around the bend.

The plugs don't effect the voltage.


I think your throwing darts in the dark and hoping to hit a bullseye. If you must spend money, then send the cash to me. I'll put it to good use. :-) Just because another persons problem was a coil doesn't mean yours is. Diagnose the problem and fix it once. Start by getting the codes for the CEL. The misfire could be any number of things. The codes will point you in the right direction.

I'm confused. You say you have a 1999, then you said you changed the plugs, but the plugs have never been changed?

You changed the spark plug wires? Did they have spark plug wires in 1999? If so, maybe you just have some spark plug wires crossed.

It's a 2009 v6. I'm living in the past. Well I understand what u are saying about throwing parts at it. But it was fine before the plug change, I replace the plugs and problem starts. So it should be something alone those line.

My thinking anyways
