Default $75 SCT X3

a guy is selling a SCT X3 tuner new in package for 75$

My question is can I get Bama or Brenspeed tunes emailed for me to put on with this or is there any complications I should be worried about ?

"when something is too good to be true .."

I'd be curious if that was locked or broken.

yes, you can purchase tunes through various tuning companies and load them onto that.

If the SCT Xcal3 is locked/married, you will have to pay a tuning company $150 to get it unlocked/unmarried, plus pay for the custom tunes. If I recall correctly, each tune is $50. Contact American Muscle or Brenspeed and they will answer any questions you may have.

+1 on confirming that it's not locked AND is functional. Used is always a "buyer beware"...

It can't be said enough.. make sure it's not locked or married and functional!

As for tunes, you can purchase into our Free Tunes for Life program for $150, at the moment. You'll receive 3 custom Bama tunes right from the start and have access to free tune adjustments for any future bolt-on mods!

Give me a shout if you have any other questions!

I did confirm that it was working and not married. The guy bought it thinking it would work for a diesel truck. Another guy got to it first though, I was planning on buying it today and he sold it yesterday.

My wife would say that if it didn't work out, it wasn't meant to be the one. Keep loooking or buckle up and buy a new one. Either way, you won't regret it.

Kevin,

Sorry this one didn't work out for you.

Shane: I've wondered about this before. Let's say a guy sells his mustang and buys a new one, his old car was "married" to the SCT tuner. Now he has to buy another $370 tuner for his new steed? That's ridiculous IMO.

Tell me please that SCT must have some way to re-boot/reset/reflash the tuner software to unmarry it from his old car to the new one right? If you don't know please get someone from SCT to answer this post.

Personally I love the tuners, but the fact that they are so locked down is troublesome. I imagine somone wanting to sell their used "married" tuner should have someway to sell it to another mustang owner so it could be used effectively.

Thanks,

Tom

The SCT tuner is unlocked when the original owner returns his car to stock. However, that tuner can only then be used on XX # of other vehicles (I can't recall the exact number but something makes me want to say 6). Also, I believe there are different sub-models in a given line of tuners that are compatible with different vehicles.
