Default Transmission seems to be getting harder get into gear

Ive had my 2011 gt for 13k miles (bought it with 15k), and lately my transmission seems to be getting harder to put it into 1st and reverse while at a stop or slow speed... along with it becoming a bit harder to get in all gears.

I have about 27750 miles on it, do you think transmission could need new fluid? Are there any recalls or TSB's for the 6 speed manual transmission? Anyone have this issue and solve it?

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.

Transmission could need a service maybe.

I have had issues with my 6 speed being wonky on shifting sometimes. From what I have seen from other posts on here is the stock shifter for the 6 speeds is just a bad design. Lot of folks putting in aftermarket shifters. Looking to switch mine over to a Hurst at some point. But you may want to have it checked out before you switch shifters.

You'll definately want to get the trans gear lube changed. I'd suggest the Royal Purple SynchroMax (think that's what it's called, can't remember for sure off hand). Should make it a world of difference.

Also, looks like you still may be under warranty.... May want to swing by the stealership to get it checked out if you think there is anything mechanically wrong. It's free, why not?

Changing the shifter will probably void your warranty. If you live in a cold area, that might be the reason the shifting problem seems worse. The only factory "fix" I've heard about is having the dealer put lighter weight fluid in the transmission. I opted not to have this done, I'll have the syncros replaced at some point when I need a new clutch, guessing about 100K.
Putting lighter oil in it may cause the gears and bearings to fail early.
In the mean time I take it easy until the trans warms up, then it shifts normally.

Mine seems to do the same thing, but it seems hit or miss. Sometimes it's a real pain in the *** and other times it shifts perfectly fine. I'm just over 30k miles.

Swapped mine over to an MGW and Redline MTL. Day & night difference in shifting. The factory shifter is a genuine piece of junk. No were else to go but up IMHO.

Whats the temperature outside?

That makes a HUGE difference.. in cold weather, this setup is like an old man with arthritis.

Once the AM temps get around 50-60.. it springs back to life.

In general, ive found that this car takes an awful long time to warm up (engine and trans) in temps 40 and below.

Hi guys,

My name is Deysha with Ford Service. I recommend you have your vehicles diagnosed at your Ford dealers. Your Service Managers are in the best position to look into this for you. Let me know the outcome.
