They're not projectors, just the bulbs with some kind of cover over them. Projector beam headlights are literally projectors like film projectors. They have a really thick lens with a focused beam.

On a side note, delurker, does your driver's side headlight seem to produce a lot of light to the left? Mine are aimed properly, but it looks like the driver's side light shoots a lot of light off to the side as well as to the front. I haven't noticed it with the passenger's side light.

I wish Ford hadn't decided to put an Odd-Ball headlamp in the Mustang!

WHY did they change it anyway, nearly all the other fords use a 9004. but NOooo.. they had to reinvent the wheel and use an H13 which nobody but a tiny hand full of people make!

I inquired with Sylvania about a Silverstar being available, and they basicly said there won't be one. Here is the actual respose.

==========
You should not try to upgrade any parts on your vehicle unless the original part number is contained in the upgraded part number. What I mean by that is you should not try to replace part 9145 for example, with any part that does not contain 9145; you should not attempt to use part 9006 or 9005 in the place of part 9145. The only parts used in your vehicle that we offer any kind of an upgrade for would be your headlight and your fog light.

FOG LAMP 9145
Upgrade=9145ST (released in June 2005)
The SilverStar (ST) will offer a crisper whiter light than offered by stock and increase of approximately 20% more useable light than stock.

HEADLAMP H13
Upgrade=H13XV
The XtraVision (XV) will offer the same color of light as stock but approximately 15% more useable light than stock. There is no SilverStar (ST) upgrade available for part H13. Unfortunately, we will not be adding this part to our SilverStar product line at this time. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wrote it into specification that this bulb cannot be coated. Although we can request a waiver, this is not currently in progress.

We would not recommend that you deviate from what the manufacturer has placed into any application. They have done the necessary testing to ensure that the lamps will function safely in their particular application. It is possible that you might damage the assembly due to heat emitted from a different bulb. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Heather

I picked up a pair of these LUKS bulbs http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33710
I like these over the stock bulbs. They give a whiter light output where the stock bulbs are too yellow for me. It was worth the cost to me.

Heh, thanks for the correction - I had a brain fart and was thinking headlight housings.

Funny you mention the beam, I was unloading groceries last night after parking head on in a curb/sidewalk spot and I noticed they shoot light off to both sides at pretty extreme angles. I was out of the car walking in front (my alarm gives me 20 seconds or so of lights on after locking/unlocking) when I noticed.

Here is the best price for bulb ugrades that I found on a quick search of the web.

http://www.texonstore.com/servlet/Detail?no=92

WHAT I don't understand -- Nokia, and others ARE selling the H13 Coated bulb... Why is Sylvania deciding to be so complient and let the competetion walk away with all that money?
