Default Axleback to Catback? Borla question..

Im sure you guys can guess where this is going :/
I purchased my borla s-type axle backs new a month ago for only $570. I thought it was a great price so i jumped on it thinking i had heard i could make it catback later if i wanted to. I called borla and they do sell the over axle pipes and x-pipe seperately believe it or not! The over axle pipes i think are $380-ish from borla and the x-pipe is around $300. I guess my question is... Is it worth the extra cash? Does anyone know where i may be able to find these a little cheaper, or maybe someone has seen these parts used on a forum? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I love the sound btw! Im assuming it would only get better with a catback system? Thanks guys

IMO, you won't gain anything with a catback as compared to an axleback.

I would love some feedback on this too. I am debating catback or axle back Borla ATAK's. I know the performance is not going to warrant the $200 difference, but what about sound?

Why would you want to replace the factory over axle pipes? Just bolt on the borlas and enjoy!

+1.

If you want better sound and performance go with headers and x-pipe. Otherwise, go axleback.

My wife bought me the Borla S axleback ($650 yikes!) before I could talk her out of it ha. It was nice at first then I wanted more volume and that x-pipe tone. Bought a used FRPP x-pipe ($120) and did a resonator delete myself. The x-pipe is 2.75" and I welded in 2.75" pipe in place of reso's so it's just like the Borla overaxle pipes EXCEPT for the flat spots over the axle itself. Saved about $400 over the complete Borla catback. The sound is fantastic! Still absolutely zero drone inside. It has quite a bark to it but it's not obnoxious. Much improved over just the axleback.

Hard to believe a few hp isn't had by getting rid of the 2" resonators and 2.25" h-pipe.

Originally I was going with catback as the factory piping on my 95 was so baldly bent that I needed to replace all of it to get a good tone - I figured the '11 was the same way.

So you guys are saying that a better use of money would be to get BBK shorties (cant go LTs here is Cali), Ford Racing X pipe, and axle back ATAK over a full catback system? I want to delete the resonators.
